Melodic Embrace : Aluminum Art by E. Moises Diaz
One of the most beautiful emails I have received today was from the artist E. Moises Diaz – a recycled metal artist who works primarily in recycled aluminum. He has made an amazing offer – he will be making a “Wedding Cans” version of his Melodic Embraces sculpture, and donating a percentage of the profits from the sale of those to our project. Both Peter and I are just blown away at the beauty of this piece and the artist’s talent. See the official information on his page or below…
Austin, Texas based artist, E. Moises Diaz is creating an exclusive edition of original artwork to help Andrea and Peter meet their goal, he was inspired by their creativity and will provide them with 40% of profits generated by the sale of each “Melodic Embrace-Wedding Cans” piece.

“Melodic Embrace- Wedding Cans”, 2010

Angled View
Artist’s Description: This piece represents the melody made by a couple’s commitment to each other. Look carefully at the body of the guitar and you will see the couple embracing. Now look at the broken string, this symbolizes adversity in a relationship, but as most musicians say “the show must go on” and so continues the beautiful melody of our relationships.
Pieces can be purchased through www.EMoisesDiaz.com

You don’t know me, I’m from Annville, Pa but I came across your blog today and thought it was an amazing idea!! What an inventive idea for paying for your wedding, and being ‘green’! I hope you don’t mind but I shared your site address with Good Morning America; Ellen; The Bonnie Hunt Show and Ellen. I think it is a news worthy story and I do hope you reach your goal of 400,000 cans AND have an amazing wedding and life together, who knows maybe one of the shows will contact you! best wishes

I cant remember where i heard this but, if you take the cans to Canada you will get like 15 or 20 cents more a pound.

While there are areas of the US and Canada where cans are worth more money, we are keeping our recycling local. Please see the post “A Case For Staying Local” for a full explanation.

I give it less than a month, and you’ll be at you’re goal of 400,000 cans.
You’ll probably over exceed you’re expectations on donations.
Maybe with the extra cans left over –
You can donate to a family in need & really pay it forward.
Good luck to you both – Keep us updated.
