It’s official!
As of today, we have reached 100 percent. Peter and I are both excited, amazed, humbled… there aren’t really words.
What there is is lots to do. We’ve got 40 days until the wedding, and we’re finally able to make the last of our plans. Thursday at 11 a.m., Paul and his crew from United [...]

Just wanted to share some of the new photographs that got taken last night – the 2,200 lb pile on our back porch and all. Thanks to Jaspenelle Stewart of Paganites for being our photographer for these!

We also had our interview with Melissa and Bob this morning on CAT Country in Spokane – you can [...]

Well, it’s coming up. The crazy idea of paying for our wedding with cans looks like it might just work — with six weeks to go until the wedding, we’re almost at 89% and have a few big can pickups planned for next week. We’re going to be trying to get the recyclers over to [...]

The countdown has started. There are 59 days before the wedding, and our can total is sitting at (almost) the even number of 88.5% of our goal. The date (and 400,000 cans) is getting so close we can practically taste it!
Of course, the wedding planning is now in full swing too. We did find and [...]

Well, here we are with three months left. I must say that the response has been amazing! We are quite near our goal and have caused others to take up the cause for their own goals. It is my hope that they will continue to recycle after their goals are met, as we are planning [...]

This is the part Peter and I knew was coming. The part that really, there isn’t a heck of a lot of story to tell. It’s the slow and steady portion of our project.
To be honest, we expected a lot more of this and a lot less of the big media adventure.
Our story hasn’t changed [...]

After another round of weighing cans and we finally got over 85% today! 85.3%, to be exact. That means we’ve only got 15% left to go – about 1,500 pounds. Under a ton! YAY!
To add to the excitement, we’re making progress on wedding plans. We’ve started sending out invitations, and are still trying to track [...]

Wow. What a wild ride the last month has been. We are quickly and surely coming up on our goal of being able to pay for our wedding – and we’re making progress on actually planning the event, which is also very exciting.
However, the most exciting thing is the fact that Peter and I have [...]

What’s After?

Both Peter and I have been trying to think very carefully lately (between working our full-time jobs, media interviews, and trying to get some sleep. Oh, and plan a wedding ) about what’s next. At this point, we are very confident that we will hit our goal of 400,000 cans and a beautiful [...]

Alcoa Recycling has announced this morning that they will be donating 150,000 cans towards our goal. Both Peter and I are just blown away at the generosity of this donation, and the support that we have gotten the world around. This donation puts us firmly at 65%, with only  136,753 cans left to go. See [...]
